Required Immunization
Meningococcal Quadrivalent (ACYW-135) Vaccine
- This immunization is required for all prospective Hajj pilgrims – as instructed by the Saudi Arabia Government
- It must be taken at least two (2) weeks before the flight to the Holy Land
- The vaccine provides immunity to the body for two (2) years
- It can be obtained for free from any government clinics and hospitals (refer to the nearest TH office)
Additional Immunization (borne personally by the prospective Hajj pilgrims)
The Malaysian Ministry of Health encourages prospective Hajj pilgrims to take additional immunizations to strengthen their body immunity system :
Influenza Vaccine
- This vaccine is best taken a month before the flight to the Holy Land
- It is safe to be taken except for those who have allergies to eggs
- For prospective Hajj pilgrims aged 50 and above, or those who have health problems such as asthma, diabetics, lung or kidney diseases and endocrines are encouraged to take this vaccine
- To maintain body immunity for 1 year.
Pneumokokus Vaccine
- For prospective Hajj pilgrims aged 50 and above, or those who have health problems such as asthma, diabetics, lung or kidney diseases and endocrines are strongly encouraged to take this vaccine
- This vaccine can prevent acute lung infections caused by bacteria. Lung infections are common amongst children and the elderly in the Holy Land
- To maintain body immunity for 5 years.
