Shariah Advisory Committee
Shariah Advisory Committee
Established in 2010, the Shariah Advisory Committee (SAC) serves as a reference point for TH on matters related to Shariah, excluding Hajj rituals and practices. To ensure that TH's business operations consistently comply with Shariah principles, the TH Shariah Governance Framework outlines SAC’s roles and responsibilities as follows:
- Advising the Board on Shariah-related matters to ensure that TH’s business operations and activities, including zakat, adhere to Shariah principles at all times.
- Clarifying Shariah rulings on TH transactions as determined by the Committee, based on referrals from the Board, Chairman, Shariah Division, or any other TH business unit.
- Evaluating and approving products, standard contracts, agreements, and the operations of TH’s transactions.
- Verifying that TH’s transactions and contracts comply with Shariah through periodic reports submitted by the Shariah Division to the Committee, and clarifying the implementation of the Committee’s resolutions and rulings.
- Providing Shariah rulings or advice on operations, business activities, and transactions within the Group that may pose potential Shariah non-compliance risks.
- Discussing and verifying Shariah non-compliance findings by TH’s Shariah control functions and confirming corrective measures and rectifications to address such incidents.
- Representing TH in Shariah-related matters at conferences, seminars, and participating in Islamic finance forums.
