TH’s involvement in the Islamic Financial Sector is through its associated businesses which are Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) and Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Berhad (STMKB).
As the only listed Islamic financial institution in the country, BIMB is able to offer a wide range of banking and financial services, from private and commercial banking to investment and stockbroking. BIMB has embarked on its five-year business strategic plan called LEAP25 in order to deliver on the promise of technology and redefined growth by bolstering the five key business sectors of Social Finance, Wealth Management, Enterprise and Wholesale Banking, and Digital Banks. This will enable BIMB to achieve organic growth and provide in leadership digital banking and social finances.
Meanwhile, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Berhad (STMB/Takaful Malaysia) was founded in 1981 as a result of the Malaysian government's creation of a task force to study the viability of establishing an Islamic Insurance company in Malaysia. Due to this, the Malaysian Takaful Company was established on November 29, 1984, and operations began on July 22, 1985. After operating for more than a decade, Takaful Malaysia was incorporated as a public limited company on October 19, 1995, followed by the listing of its shares on the Main Board (now known as ‘Main Market’) at the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on July 30, 1996.
