KUALA LUMPUR, 20 April 2022 – Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) has launched its Strategic Transformation Plan, HIJRAH24, which was crafted to ensure the hajj management institution remains future proof and competitive for the benefit of its depositors, hajj pilgrims and Malaysian Muslims.
Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Bin Yaakob launched HIJRAH24 in a ceremony held at Menara TH in Kuala Lumpur today.
YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri said as one of the world-class hajj management institutions, TH must always be ready for change in order to remain effective and relevant. This includes undertaking bold measures to strengthen its position to meet the evolving demand of stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that TH has considered all the key elements to boost its operations and investment activities to ensure its sustainability and consistently strong performance in the future.
TH Chairman Tan Sri Azman Hj Mokhtar said HIJRAH24 comprises of 24 initiatives that will be implemented collectively by TH employees throughout three (3) years starting from 2022 until 2024. The initiatives will cover five (5) key thrusts namely:
- Excellent pilgrimage management in Hajj services.
- Generating sustainable returns & asset surplus.
- Growing stable deposits through efficient, trustworthy and customer-friendly services.
- Developing and nurturing best in-class talents.
- Strengthening good governance by applying the principles of Maqasid Syariah.
“Implementing HIJRAH24 will enable TH to strengthen its governance and internal controls to further safeguard itself and its depositors, in addition to improving its operational efficiency as well as enhancing income and returns. InsyaAllah, these initiatives will ensure that TH remains sustainable well into the future,” he said.
The HIJRAH24 Transformation Plan outlines six main objectives for TH by the end of 2024, namely:
- Increasing total deposits to RM100 billion (compared with RM86.5 billion currently).
- Securing more than 50 percent of Malaysian Muslims as TH depositors.
- Targeted profit distribution that among others, exceeds Islamic banking returns.
- More than four (4) million THiJARI digital users (currently 1.4 million).
- Customer satisfaction index of more than 90 percent.
- Employee engagement index of more than 75 percent.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer TH, Dato’ Sri Amrin Awaluddin said “TH employees are committed in implementing HIJRAH24 comprehensively and it is hoped that it will catalyse the institution to assume a stronger and more sustainable position,”
During the launch ceremony, YAB Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri also joined the Majlis Berbuka Puasa with TH employees and presented donations to 30 orphans whom attended the event.
