KUALA LUMPUR, 20 December 2017 - Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) supports the call for action by all parties to address the mismanagement of umrah packages by irresponsible parties.
Datuk Seri Johan Abdullah, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TH said his team would thoroughly study all proposals for TH to manage matters relating to the management, monitoring and enforcement of Umrah for the Malaysian pilgrims.
"A more in-depth study needs to be conducted from various aspects because Umrah management differs from the hajj pilgrimage and Umrah can be carried out throughout the year. The findings from this study will have to be analysed carefully and refined before any decision or alteration of the Act can be proposed," he said.
TH also needs to look into the benefits and impact for our depositors as Umrah management would involve a different cost structure," he added.
"We also need to have further discussions with all the authorities so that these proposals can be presented in full for the benefit of all parties involved," he said.
Meanwhile, TH advises those who wish to perform the umrah to seek the services of tourism companies that possess the Special License Umrah (LKU) which was enforced by MOTAC last October.
