KUALA LUMPUR, 28 April 2023 – Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) announced Profit Distribution for Financial Year 2022 at 3.10 percent, after taking into account zakat of 2.57 percent.
This distribution involves a total payout of RM2.65 billion and it will benefit more than 8.7 million TH depositors. The rate is competitive as it is higher than the average 12-month Islamic fixed deposit rate of 2.34 percent.
The Profit Distribution has also taken into account zakat made on behalf of depositors. The Profit Distribution announcement was made by Yang Berhormat Senator Dato’ Setia Dr Haji Mohd Naim Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) at a press conference in TH today.
“TH has taken a more cautious investment approach based on its Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) to address market uncertainties. Alhamdulillah, this effort has paid off in the form of sustainable income generation to ensure a reasonable distribution rate for financial year 2022,” said TH Chairman, Tan Sri Azman Hj Mokhtar.
The Profit Distribution is computed based on the average monthly minimum savings balance for the year, which is the same computation methodology applied in previous years.
TH has also allocated zakat amounting to RM97 million for distribution to all State Religious Councils on behalf of depositors, bringing the accumulated zakat payment to RM1.27 billion so far.
