KUALA TERENGGANU, 23 September 2020 - Tabung Haji (TH) today handed over zakat amounting to RM6,746,851.95 for the financial year ended 2019 to the Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (MAIDAM) in a simple ceremony at the Istana Syarqiyyah Kuala Terengganu.

Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Wathiqu Billah Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, Sultan of Terengganu has accepted the payment of TH Zakat from YBhg. Dato’ Mohyen bin Mosman, TH Terengganu State Director. The zakat payment for the state of Terengganu recorded an increase compared to 2018 (RM 6,522,964.21).

TH hopes the zakat payment can be used by Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (MAIDAM) to strengthen the charity programs within the state with the goal of economical sustainability of the asnafs, he added.
The total payment of Zakat TH 2019 continues to increase throughout the states by RM86,185,327.00; in comparison to RM85.570,873.00 in 2018.

This year, TH further strengthens its responsibilities with the implementation of the Zakat Program targeted at the needy through the organization of programs in the form of education, welfare and community. This initiative is also expected to have a double positive impact on the asnaf group.

Also present at the ceremony were YB Dato' Mohd Zahari Bin Md Azahar, Terengganu State Secretary, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Zulkiply Bin Muda, Sahibus Samahah Dato' Mufti of Terengganu, YBhg. Dato' Haji Osman bin Muda, the President of Majlis Agama Islam dan Adat Melayu Terengganu (MAIDAM), YBrs. Tuan Haji M Rozi bin Haji Bidin, Chief Executive Officer of MAIDAM, MAIDAM officials and representatives of TH.
