  • Corporate Sosial Responsibility
    • Key Summary
      • TH Corporate Social Responsibility Pillar

        Alt text

TH continues to share our success with countless stakeholders through a steadfast focus on our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. This is in line with the Islamic principles and TH standing as a caring organisation, with a mission to uphold the socioeconomic status of the Muslims in Malaysia.

TH continued with our CSR activities which have benefited thousands of our stakeholders nationwide in line with our aspiration to share our success with all.

      • Reaching Out, Touching Lives

TH‘s CSR programme is an important element within its business activities. TH has consistently maintained its position as a caring and responsible organisation by contributing and sharing income earned with its stakeholders, through various community and environmental activities.

TH‘s stakeholders include depositors, hajj pilgrims, strategic business partners, the government and its agencies, consultants, suppliers as well as its staff.

Every year, TH implements over 500 CSR activities with a budget allocation of more than RM100 million. These community and social welfare programmes have directly benefited thousands of Malaysian Hajj Pilgrims and more than 20,000 individuals nationwide.

    • Marketplace

      Friendly Market Environment

In its business operations, TH prioritizes the interests of the depositors, hajj pilgrims as well as its business partners by ensuring every service delivers maximum customer satisfaction and has a positive impact on the community. TH strives to build a receptive market environment that will positively impact all stakeholders.

      • Our biggest and most significant investment in CSR is the provision of Hajj subsidies to first time Muassasah pilgrims every year. This subsidy has helped to maintain the pilgrims’ hajj payment at RM9,980 even though the actual hajj cost in 2015 was RM17,270 per pilgrim.

Since 2001, TH has contributed this subsidy as an act of charity to Malaysian pilgrims. The subsidy covers hajj pilgrimage operating costs in Malaysia and the Holy Land. Besides that, TH also allocates a substantial portion of its budget to provide hajj support operations, which include hajj guidance, medical and financial services as well as hajj personnels.

      • TH also continues with our senior citizens’ fund called TWT Fund that was established since 2000. This fund is intended to finance part of the total payment for senior pilgrims who meet all application requirements and are selected for hajj pilgrimage but facing financial difficulties to pay for their hajj.

The TWT fund’s main source of funding is through donations from TH and other individuals.

      • As per previous years, TH continues to cooperate with other government agencies and corporate companies to sponsor relevant items for pilgrimage through our Sahabat Korporat programme.

Many companies participated and contributed a total of million worth of products. These comprised items such as trolley bags, sling bags, supplements, SIM cards and lanyards. The items were distributed to the Hajj Pilgrims before they left to the Holy Land for their usage there.

      • In 2015, a total bonus pay out of RM3.2million was paid to TH’s 8.6 million depositors in appreciation of their constant support and faith in TH.This was offered via a 6.25% annual bonus which is very competitive.

TH also paid an additional 2% Hajj Bonus to support our depositors who have not performed their hajj yet. This additional bonus will hopefully help them to increase their hajj savings.

    • Community

      Building a Sustainable Community

TH is an active contributor to social welfare and seeks to assist communities within which we operate. Most of TH CSR initiatives target the poor and the disadvantaged who also make up the majority of our zakat recipients that benefit through the education, welfare, healthcare and home rehabilitation projects.

      • This is an annual project to provide financial assistance to needy recipients such as the elderly, single parents and people with disabilities, during the month of Ramadan. This project is aimed at easing the financial burden of these groups in preparation for Syawal.

      • The Baiti project, formerly known as “Bumbung project”, was introduced in 2012. Through this project, we helped build and repair houses or mosques for the underprivileged community. The project aims to reduce the burden of the poor and provide them with safer house to improve their standard of living.

      • Iqra is a human capital development project that was launched in 2012 to support underprivileged students in their pursuit of a viable education. The Iqra project helps the identified students in 14 states via the provision of school items and pocket money before the school term starts every year. It is hoped that the contribution provides support and motivation to the students to continue learning and pursue academic excellence for a better future.

      • The Kelab TaHa was established in April 2008 to attract those aged 7 to 17 years to start saving from their early age. This will put them on the right footing for more fruitful future financial planning and could possibly enable them a chance to perform the pilgrimage at a young age. In addition, Kelab TaHa members also benefit from a variety of academic programmes and activities throughout the year.

These camps served to inculcate good values and educational knowledge to help improve their academic excellence. Also, English Camps were held to help improve mastery of the English Language for TaHa members.

The Examination seminars sponsored andfully funded by TH in our mission to upliftthe students’ performance academically. In addition to academic excellence, theseactivities provided character buildingmodules to help build a future pool ofcommendable talent within the community.

      • TaHa@U is another initiative established in May 2010 to motivate and encourage students in local institutions of higher learning to undertake hajj pilgrimage at a young age.

TH worked in collaboration with the various parties to promote TaHa@U through activities such as TaHa Jamboree@U, Career Guidance Carnival, sporting tournaments and community service programmes.

The Jamboree TaHa@U programme helped expose students to various activities which can develop their characters through spiritual, physical and intellectual means. This was followed by a Career Guidance Carnival which provided exposure to future employment opportunities.

Sporting activities such as futsal, handball and bowling tournaments created diversity and an opportunity to emphasize the importance of embracing a healthy lifestyle through sports. Apart from that, Community Service Programmes were also organized during the year to help nurture civic mindedness and to create responsible individuals in the future. The activities ranged from community gotong- royong activities, terawih prayer, cleaning the mosque and graveyard, organising “Happy Hour” for children at the mosque and many other interesting activities. All these activities received positive feedback from students and boosted TaHa@U’s membership.
